XANTHRA DUFRANE

Xanthra DuFrane (Boston, MA) is a visual artist working in time-based media, photography and sculpture.  She holds a Bachelor’s degree from the School of Visual Arts where she studied photography and printmaking.  Her professional background includes extensive experience as a printmaker and studio assistant. After overcoming addiction and embracing parenthood, she spent several years in corporate roles in New York and Boston before returning to full-time artistic practice in 2024.

DuFrane's work addresses themes of history, violence and resilience through a feminist lens. Her current project investigates the history of the land around Chelsea Creek in Boston, a complex environment with coalescing confrontations of history, immigration, and environmental concerns.  Her practice draws connections between the land, sea and body, with particular focus on the way landscapes capture memory.
